Prep

Prep represents the beginning of more formal learning and as the name suggests, is designed to prepare children for Grammar school, working towards the 11 Plus exam. In Prep, they experience more topic-based learning and a clearer distinction between subjects within a more structured week.

The way we treat your child as an individual to bring out the very best of their abilities and aptitudes, continues into Reception – and throughout Prep. This is made possible by our skilled teaching staff, class sizes of 16 or fewer and our painstaking assessment process. Reviews are carried out every half term in the core subjects of Maths, English and Science and individual targets set based on these assessments. This enables us to plan the programme of activity best suited to your child’s needs and objectives. Graded reports are prepared every term, with a longer, written report produced at the end of the academic year. Termly parents’ evenings provide an ideal, regular opportunity to review progress. However, we strongly encourage regular contact with parents at any time.
