Prep Literacy

In Reception we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage and in Prep 1 and 2 we follow the Primary National Strategy, adapting and extending where necessary.  Pupils are taught both phonics and high frequency words and are given the opportunity to read a wide range of fiction and non fiction texts. We use a wide range of resources and reading schemes including Jolly Phonics and Oxford Reading Tree. Regular homework, weekly spelling tests and daily reading at home reinforce and supplement the work done in the classroom. Children are supported to become confident readers and creative and skilled writers.
