Key Stage 2 (Prep 3 - 6 Juniors) Age 8 - 11 years

Juniors provides excellent preparation for progression into Grammar School. We prepare every child for entry to the 11 Plus exam. It gives them a solid objective to work towards, providing us with another, ‘external’ means of measuring progress and leads to greater choices when it comes to senior school, especially if you are anticipating a move to another area.

In Years 3 to 6, History, Geography and Art are brought together as topic-based subjects to enable a greater understanding of how, in life, no one thing sits in isolation. For example, we are always involved in fundraising activities for charities such as disaster funds, and there is a linked project in class so that children understand more about the affected region, its culture, its geography and the issues faced. We also enjoy the benefits of sharing many of the senior school’s facilities including its science lab and ICT suite.

Again, much emphasis is placed on nurturing the ‘whole child’. PE and games are taken at our local, well-equipped leisure centre. There is a focus on healthy living too, with regular related topics including talks from our local GP about healthy lifestyles.

Recent Key Stage Two results show how well Cranbrook is achieving compared to other schools in the local area and the national average.
